The more dried fruit and nuts you can pile into a flapjack the better. In this recipe I've added apricots and walnuts but raisons, hazelnuts, even unsalted cashew nuts can make a plain bar of oats into something special.

Ingredients

Makes 20

450g rolled oats
250g butter
70g golden syrup
75g brown sugar
75g walnuts
75g apricots

Method

1.Preheat the oven to 190 degrees celsius.

2.Mix the rolled oats, walnuts and apricots.

3.Melt the butter and golden syrup.

4.Add the butter.

5.Mix everything together.

6.Press the mixture into a greased baking tray and and cook for 20 - 25 minutes.

7.While still warm, cut into squares.
